Objective:
Replace the current paper-based analysis with Web-based financial reporting that will allow all School of Medicine operating units to perform results variance analysis and available balance analysis from four points of view:
- organizational structure (department, division, section)
- reserve (all funds, cash, specific purpose funds, endowment, etc.)
- mission (clinical, research, instruction, etc.)
- available balance
This analytical tool will use the new data warehouse to drill down to the account balances, account transactions and payroll distribution by account and employee. The goal for this tool is to display additional data generated by the School of Medicine Finance office that is not available to FOCUS users, including the data listed below:
- Hyperion journals
- Depreciation
- A/P accruals
- Grant revenue accruals and deferrals
- ADIS gift accruals
This goal is to provide transparency to departmental financial analysts so that they can understand how allocations are calculated on joint-use, operations, and maintenance and administrative accounts by drilling down on an online report that displays each step down. The step downs will display the basis the allocation and in some cases allow drill down to the basis used, such as a FTE listing for a department or division.
